This subspecies of Ibex combines a long horn (can be over a meter long) with an open shape, known colloquially as a palm tree.
The main hunting area is the Maestrazgo, which mainly extends over three provinces (Teruel, Castellón and Tarragona).
This Ibex is often hunted at altitudes of over 1,000 meters, where it is sheltered by large forests.
Its hunting season runs from October to May, with the rutting months (November-December) being the ideal time to shoot the large Ibex.

GREDOS
The most coveted and emblematic subspecies in Spain. Characterized by its long, open, lyre-shaped horns, it is the dream Ibex. It lives in the Sierra de Gredos (Avila, Leon, Extremadura, Toledo and Madrid).
SIERRA NEVADA
It is characterized by its backwards horn in the shape of a lyre. It lives in the mountains of Sierra Nevada (Granada).
RONDA
Smaller subspecies, characterized by its long, closed horns. It mainly inhabits the area of Ronda (Malaga).
